Buffalo Airways has operated fire suppression aircraft on behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories for decades. Buffalo Airways operates a diversified fleet that is equipped for land or water year round.

Buffalo Airways is the STC holder for the 3,000 gal eight-door fire retardant tank install on the Lockheed L-188. We have successfully completed installs and certification on C-FIJX and C-FBAQ. They are fully certified with an Envelope Protection System to enhance pilot safety and awareness during missions. Our efficient and fast Air Tractor AT802F Fire Bosses are maintained and operated by Buffalo Airways on behalf of the GNWT to protect the forest, communities and mine sites in our rugged territory.
In addition to the aircraft listed above, Buffalo Airways can make available DC-4s and a Lockheed P-3 Orion (N922AU).
Aerial application
Beyond the Fire Line
The same fleet flies pollution containment, cleanup and pest control. Turbo DC-3, L-188 and Cessna 310 are available for airborne geophysical surveys, pollution control, and FLIR complete with video and GPS imaging.
Our Lockheed L-188 fleet is equipped with spray equipment for delivery of biological agents and pesticides for the eradication of pests, and antipollution agents to contain and clean up environmental contaminants.
