Lockheed L-188 Electra

The heavy hauler of the fleet — 33,000 lbs of cargo, or 3,000 gallons of retardant out of an eight-door tank Buffalo engineered itself.

Ask About This Aircraft

The Electra does two jobs at Buffalo. As a freighter it lifts up to 33,000 lbs — the biggest load in the fleet — with a main deck that takes eight containers and a big cargo door for outsize freight.

As an airtanker it is the backbone of our fire suppression contract with the Government of the Northwest Territories. Buffalo Airways is the STC holder for the 3,000 gallon eight-door fire retardant tank install on the L-188, with completed installs and certification on C-FIJX and C-FBAQ — fully certified with an Envelope Protection System to enhance pilot safety and awareness during missions.
